Hot Stone Massage:
In this therapy, smooth black volcanic rocks (basalt) are heated to a comfortably warm temperature in a heater and are then used to massage the body. The heated stones are designed to work at the deepest muscle level and the heat serves to warm up tight muscles so as to allow the therapist to work on the deeper muscles quicker.
The heat penetrates deep into the muscles and tissues permitting the muscles to relax much faster in comparison to a normal manual massage. It eases the tension built up in muscles and revitalises them by increasing blood circulation.
The therapist also places the stones on specifically targeted points on the body- specifically points on the spine, in the palms of your hand, between toes or other points on the body. This is to direct the flow of energy in your body so as to stimulate the body as well as help it to relax. Please note that the heated stones are not painful and all clients have left satisfied.

Practical Advice beforehand:
• Please be hydrated (drink enough water)
• The hair will be full of oil after Shirodhara, so bring a hair band or a hat in winter – very important
• Go straight home, by a car preferably as opposed to public transport, and have a warm bath when you return home. It is important that you relax for the rest of that day- with no TV use for best results.
